A cyclonic separator is the ultimate add on for any commercially used central vacuum system. These units are designed to collect heavier debris before it reaches the main unit and since a separator doesn't have a motor, it's completely quiet, allowing it to be placed conveniently for frequent emptying without the noise of a main power unit.

For instance, a separator might be used in a wood shop where it could sift most of the heavier wood debris while the main unit would collect fine wood shavings. Similarly, separators can be used in veterinarian clinics where they groom animals or a hair salon to sift out most debris before it reaches the main unit.
