I was searching for a central vacuum unit to replace a poorly working one the builder of my house installed.  I did research and decided on the Cana-Vac unit.  I called Central Vacuum to run by the tests I did on my old unit and to confirm the unit was likely defective (it had poor suction).  I decided on the Cana-Vac 990 system which was likely a bit over kill for my 3,000sq ft house but I have 2 hide-a-hose connections and one of the connection always had poor suction.

Central Vacuum had a great price, and delivery was fast. The installation was easy although I had to slightly modify the piping to fit the new unit and had to add a piece of plywood across 2 beams to support the heavier unit (this Cana-vac was around 2x the weight of the old unit which was was just installed in sheetrock).  In all, not a difficult job.  I had purchased a water lift gauge to verify the poor suction on my old unit.  My old unit pulled about 40 on the water lift scale, the new Cana-vac pulled 145.
