The motor tends to be the most expensive replacement part for any central vacuum system and it's also a good idea to replace the filter when you're replacing the motor. This process can add to not only the overall cost of the repair but the time you'll spend as well. Keeping in mind that replacement motors will only have a one(1) year warranty, another option to consider would be to replace the entire power unit in favor of a newer model. Newer power units can have up to a twenty(20) year, no-strings-attached, warranty and will often be quieter too!

It was super easy to fix my old Beam central vacuum, and this Ametek Lamb Motor was "plug and play", easy to install. Works great and saved me a bundle when I thought I might have to replace the whole canister unit.
